The first city of modern India, Chennai, is celebrating its 383rd Birthday recently to showcase its history, culture and traditions of Chennai city, Tamil Prints and events are conducting a marathon on the occasion of Gandhi Jayathi (Oct 2, 2022).

The Modern Madras Marathon is a mega event that brings together the entire cross-section of the population to celebrate Chennai city’s history and the spirit of its people while living in the toughest of urban environments. All come together, irrespective of caste, creed, color, gender, age, and fitness. The uniqueness of the Modern Madras Marathon brings people together as participants who have a unique story, a reason, a purpose, and a mission connected to Chennai city to be a participant.

History of Chennai:

Chennai, then Madras, was founded on August 22, 1639. It commemorates the founding of the city by establishing Fort St. George on a small piece of land acquired from the last King of Chandragiri in 1639 by the British East India Company. Rechristened Chennai in 1996, the capital of Tamil Nadu is now home to more than 4 million people.
